Husband held after wife hangs herself

Bengaluru: They JP Nagar police arrested a BPO employee after his wife committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her JP Nagar house on Sunday, May 5 evening.

The deceased is identified as Supriya Akshay Manvi (33), a resident of 14th Main, JP Nagar Phase III.

It is gathered that Akshay, Supriya’s husband couldn’t find her since 4 PM after which he suspected something amiss as she wasn’t answering his phone calls. Later at 7 PM, he found her hanging from the ceiling in her room.

The couple lived with their one-year-old son, Lava A, and Akshay’s mother. They married four years ago, informed sources.

Following the incident, Akshay was detained for abetment to suicide. Meanwhile, police informed Supriya’s parents in Hubballi about her death. Her father Vasudev Ramachandra Jolad arrived here on Monday and filed a complaint against his son-in-law, alleging he tortured Supriya.
