IMA jewels fraud: Five more directors held

Bengaluru: Special Investigation team on Friday, June 21 arrested five more directors of IMA Group of Companies.

The arrested are Shadab Ahmed (28), Israr Ahmed (32), Fuzail Ahmed (30), Mohammed Idrees (30) and Usman (33).

The SIT has arrested a total of 13 people in the case so far as its efforts to trace the owner of the company Mansoor Khan continues.

On June 12, seven directors were arrested by the police. The seven were picked up from different locations, highly-placed and the custody of seven arrested directors was given to the SIT, sources in the police told had informed.

The seven accused directors are – Nizamuddin, Nasir Hussain, Naveed Ahmed, Arshad Khan, Wasim, Ansar Pasha and Dada Peer.

Mansoor Khan, managing director of IMA Jewels went missing and an audio clip of him stating that he was committing suicide, accusing MLA Roshan Baig of cheating him of Rs 400 crore went viral on Whatsapp.

Investigations into his whereabouts have further revealed that an amount of 19 crore rupees was transferred from the IMA account to his personal account before he fled the country. As per sources, the money was obtained by liquidating most of the gold and diamonds in his shops into cash.

A notice has been issued to Mansoor Khan asking himself to be present on June 24 before SIT, while ED Summons have also been posted at IMA Offices’ doors.
