Def Min urged to increase compensation to families of ‘missing’ Suvarna Tribhuja victims

Udupi: On his visit to Mangaluru to participate in a CAA, NRC awareness programme on Monday, January 27, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was appealed by many of the district BJP leaders to pay additional compensation to the families of the missing fishermen who were on board the sunken Suvarna Tribhuja boat.

Fishing Federation President Yashpal Suvarna and other leaders from the fishermen community: Satish Kundar, Raviraj Suvarna, Harish Kundar, Panduranga Kotian, Gopal R K and family members of the missing fishermen were also present.

Rajnath Singh assured to everyone that matter will be investigated and suitable action will be taken.

Fishing boat Suvarna Tribhuja, which had left Malpe harbour on December 13, 2018, had lost contact with the harbour on December 15, 2018.

Indian Navy’s INS Nireekshak found the boat’s wreckage off Malvan coast a few months later. However, the seven fishermen on board the boat are still missing.
