“My work speaks for itself”: Jayaprakash Hegde promises development for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency

In a fervent address to activists and local leaders of a village in Kundapur, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Constituency Congress candidate K. Jayaprakash Hegde emphasized the need for tangible development in the constituency.

“It is ironic that although BJP MPs were elected twice in the past by riding on the name of other leaders, no development work has been done in the district. I am asking for votes in my name and the developmental work that I have done. I have no need to ask for votes in the name of any other leader,” Hege said.

Hegde was addressing a meeting of activists and leaders held at the Bijadi Gram Panchayat of Kundapura.

Pointing to the absence of significant developmental strides under previous BJP leadership, Hegde advocated for a change in leadership. “BJP can claim that we have done it. If you look at the record, you will know who has done the real work. It is fair to ask for votes by highlighting the work done. The guarantee schemes of the Congress have reached the people. The public welfare schemes implemented by the Congress in the past, the schemes to be brought forward as mentioned in the manifesto, have to be delivered to the voters. This time,  change is necessary for development in Udupi; vote for my works done in the past,” he said.

My past work will translate into votes:

Drawing attention to his own track record, Hegde outlined various initiatives undertaken during his tenure as Minister of Fisheries, particularly emphasizing his efforts to address the concerns of the fishing community.  “I have worked hard to carve out Udupi as a district and worked to benefit the people here. I have brought many projects to the districts including solving the problems of the national highway, railway projects, and sea barrier,” he added.

Hegde also pledged to prioritize essential sectors such as healthcare and education. “There should have been a medical college in Udupi district by now. Soon, the state government will try to establish a government medical college and a multi-specialty hospital. Along with this, priority will be given to education and employment,” he said.

Response to Fishermen’s Issues:

“Only when there is thought (towards an issue), will plans arise. When I was the minister of the fisheries department, I worked hard to bring many projects that would benefit the fishermen. I am in constant contact with the fishermen even when I am not a minister. I have tried to be a voice for the problems of the fishing community. People have remembered my contributions to the district. It will be converted into votes. That is what gives me the confidence to win this election,” Jayaprakash Hegde said.

Srinivas Poojary is “competent in sowing dissent”:

Former MLA from Byndoor K. Gopal Poojary said, “People want change this time in Udupi. Many want Jayaprakash Hegde to win,” and accused that Srinivas Poojary is “competent in sowing dissent” between leaders. “People will give a befitting answer to this,” Poojary added.

On this occasion Kundapur Block Congress President Hariprasad Shetty Kanmakki, District Congress Vice President S. Raju Poojary, party leaders Dinesh Hegde Molahalli, Malyadi Shivaram Shetty, Prakash Chandra Shetty Kambadakone, Madan Kumar, B. Herianna Chatrabettu, B. Shekhara Chatrabettu, Munaf Kodi were present.
