Justice Oka takes oath as Chief Justice of K’taka High Court

Bengaluru: Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka assumed charge as Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court on Friday.
Governor Vajubhai Vala administered the oath to Justice Oka at a simple ceremony held at Glass House of Raj Bhavan in city in the presence of Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwar, Chief Secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar, DG&IGP Neelamani N Raju among others.
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Justice Oka to be appointed as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court in its Resolution dated April 8. A notification, dated April 30, 2019 issued by the Centre regarding his appointment stated that Justice Oka would assume the office of the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court from the date he assumes charge.
Earlier Justice Oka was serving as the second senior-most judge in High Court of Bombay.
