Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaih said that most of the Migrant workers in Maharastra are going back to their hometown except those from Karnataka and requested Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to resolve the issue at the earliest.

In a series of tweets, Siddaramaiah said, Thousands of Kannadigas who are working in Hotels of Mumbai are left stranded without salary, food, and shelter. Yediyurappa should arrange transportation to get them back to our state and arrange for screening and quarantine facilities.”

“Migrant workers are going back to their states from Maharashtra, except those from Karnataka. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddav Thackery claims lack of response and support from Karnataka govt for this fiasco. BS Yediyurappa should resolve the issue at the earliest,” Siddaramaih claimed.

“Hotel owners are trying to convince Uddav Thackery to grant lockdown relaxation to hotels. There are allegations that this is the reason for not arranging train facilities by both Karnataka and Maharashtra. Governments of both the states are betraying migrant labourers,” said Siddaramaih.

He further added, “Uddav has permitted private vehicles to come to Karnataka. People who have enough money are able to come back but what should poor migrants do? BSY should discuss with CM of Maharashtra and arrange train or bus facilities.”
