Karnataka Government to restart its flagship programme Vidyagama

Bengaluru: In the wake of rising cases of Covid-19 across Karnataka, the Department of Primary and Secondary Education has decided to restart its flagship programme, Vidyagama.

In Bengaluru, offline classes have been cancelled up to class 9 and schools have been asked to provide online education to the students.

As the department of public instruction has ordered districts across the state to brace for a possible closure of schools, the education department has ordered to resume the Vidyagama programme.

In a circular, the Department of Public Instruction said, “There could be days when schools might have to be shut again in the wake of rising cases. Vidyagama implementation incharge and principals should brace to adopt Vidyagama if such a circumstance arises.”

According to the schedule, Vidyagama will be implemented in three modes, First, through physical classes for those who do not have the necessary devices or access to the network, secondly, online classes for those who have mobile and other facilities and the third mode involves the playing of recorded classes for those do not have internet access.

Vidyagama is intended at providing continued education, constant teacher-student interaction and also keeping in touch with students during these difficult times
