Bengaluru: State’s Labour Minister Shivaram Hebbar has stated that the working hours for all workers in the State has been limited to 8 hours.
Many industries and companies had suffered losses due to the nationwide lockdown announced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, with the easing of lockdown rules and guidelines, the Labor Department increased the working hours from 40 hours per week in the State to 60 hours.
Various employees and labour organizations and labour leaders had urged the government to rethink this decision, stating that this will add to the health problems of workers.
Hence, after consulting the chief minister, it was decided to limit the working hours to 8, the minister added.
