Karnataka Rajyotsava awardee commits suicide as govt fails to fulfill demand

Davangere: Environmentalist and Karnataka Rajyotsava awardee Salumarada Veerachar committed suicide in Davangere on Monday.
70-year-old Veerachar along with a few villagers were demanding to hand over fair-price shops in Mitlakatte to someone else.
However, as his demands were not fulfilled, he committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree.
Soon after, Locals staged a protest near the spot. He is survived by his wife, daughters, and son.
