London: Actors Kaya Scodelario and Rufus Sewell will be playing the lead roles in BBC One’s adaptation of famed novelist Agatha Christie’s book “The Pale Horse”.
The two-part show hails from BBC One, Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited, the company said in a statement.
Scodelario, who most recently featured in disaster horror “Crawl”, will portray Hermia. Sewell, best known for starring in Amazon’s “The Man In The High Castle”, will take on the role of Mark Easterbrook.
The story follows Easterbrook as he tries to uncover the mystery of a list of names found in the shoe of a dead woman.
“His investigation leads him to the peculiar village of Much Deeping, and The Pale Horse, the home of a trio of rumoured witches. Word has it that the witches can do away with wealthy relatives by means of the dark arts, but as the bodies mount up, Mark is certain there has to be a rational explanation,” the official logline read.
The show will also feature Bertie Carvel, Sean Pertwee, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Poppy Gilbert, Madeleine Bowyer and Ellen Robertson.
Sarah Woodward, Georgina Campbell, Claire Skinner, Rita Tushingham, Sheila Atim and Kathy Kiera Clarke complete the cast.
Leonora Lonsdale is directing the series which started filming in and around the UK’s Bristol area. Ado Yoshizaki Cassuto is producing.
Amazon Prime Video is the US co-production partner, and Endeavor Content will handle sales in all territories internationally.
