Kodibengre: Students rescued from drowning

Malpe: Local fishermen successfully saved two engineering students from Manipal from drowning after the duo had ventured into to the waters at the delta beach in Kodibengre on Sunday evening Jan 21st.  

On Sunday afternoon, 4 students came to the beach of whom two ventured out for a swim in the sea near the estuary at Kodibengre. As they went swimming further into the waters, they were ensnared by the water current. During this time, a few fishermen going on a fishing boat towards Kodibengre from Hangarakatte heard the students scream and rushed to their rescue.

Two fishermen identified as Bhaskar Kharvi and Rafiq jumped into the water and rescued the students. They pulled the students out of the water, on to the boat and removed the water that they had swallowed. Later the students were admitted to the hospital and are have been declared to be free from any danger to their life.
