Kolnadu: Mob assaults 48-yr-old man, tries to set him ablaze

Bantwal: A mob brutally assaulted a 48-year-old man and doused him with kerosene, with the intent of setting him ablaze near Narsha at Kolnadu village in the taluk on Thursday night.

The victim identified as Bheemesh, a native of Bagalkot district is employed at the farmhouse of an industrialist named Suleiman Haji.

According to the complaint filed by Bheemesh, a localite named Abdul Khader had arrived at Bheemesh’s residence when he was just finishing his dinner on Thursday night. Khader asked Bheemesh to meet him near the gate and when he arrived, Khader along with 14 others brutally assaulted him. Later, they poured kerosene on Bheemesh and tried to set him ablaze.

Bheemesh somehow managed to escape the spot and with the help of a local person he reached his owner’s house. Later, he was admitted to Vittla community hospital and a complaint was lodged at Vittla police station.

Bheemesh has named – Kadu Mustafa, Puttu alias Adrama, Kadmar Abdul Kareem, KP Bail Khader and 11 others – for attempting to kill him as he was a prime witness in a year-old case involving them. 

Reportedly, a case had been registered against the miscreants, a year ago, on charges of demolishing the compound wall around the land of the Singari Suleiman at Narsha and Bheemesh had given a statement against them.
