Krishna Janmashtami celebrations: ‘Arghya Pradhana’ offered at Udupi Mutt

Udupi: Paryaya Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji offered ‘Arghya Pradhana’ ritual in the midst of religious hymns, bhajans, and discourses to Lord Krishna in the early hours of Tuesday, August 31 on the occasion of Sri Krishna Janmashtami and Vittal Pindi.

The Paryaya Swamiji offered Tulsi twigs to the Lord on this occasion on Monday night.

After performing the Mahapuja, he, along with Sri Vidyasagara Theertha Swamiji of Krishnapur Math, Admar Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji, and Kaniyooor Sri Vidyavallabha Theertha Swamiji, offered Arghya to the Lord at moonrise inside the sanctum sanctorum and then offered Arghya to the moon god at the Tulsi platform.

Vittal Pindi, which is celebrated to re-enact the divine sports indulged in by Lord Srikrishna in His childhood, is being celebratedtoday. The festivities will be celebrated in traditional way as the public have been barred from entering the car street during this time due to COVID restrictions.
