Mangaluru: KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) has suspended Mangaluru Divisional Controller P Yashwanth Kumar from services on the charges of misconduct.
Following his transfer from Hassan, Mr Kumar had recently taken over charge as the Mangaluru Divisional Controller. There is allegation that he is was getting files from Hassan and looking into it since his successor had not yet been posted there. Receiving a tip off on this activity, the corporation’s vigilance team inspected the Mangaluru office and found files belonging to Hassan division here.
According to sources, the officer was found prima facie guilty during the investigation and a report was submitted to the disciplinary authority, the Managing Director who suspended the officials pending disciplinary proceedings.
Along with Mr Kumar, an administrative officer in Hassan Division also has been suspended, inform sources.
It is worth noting that Mr Kumar has been suspended earlier too, in connection to a ‘battery cable scam’ when he was working as the Divisional Mechanical Engineer at KSRTC Chikkamagaluru Division in 2008. He along with four other officials were kept under suspension. Apparently, the accused had procured battery cables at twice the market price without inviting tenders.
