Bengaluru: KSRTC will be launching a taxi and courier service. This will be a pilot project to be led by KSRTC and later followed by the other four State transport corporations, State’s Transport Minister Laxman Savadi said.
He was speaking to reporters at New Delhi.
Savadi further said that KSRTC along with BMRCL and BMTC will be implementing the National Common Mobility Card in the State to facilitate cashless commuting.
To cover the losses of the transport corporations, a courier service will be launched under the name Namma Courier (Our Courier). The tender process for it is over. Approximately Rs 100 crore annual revenue is expected from this venture, Savadi added.
The four transport corporation spend about Rs 800-900 crore on spare parts purchases. However, wastages have been seen in this process. Hence, a centralised accounting measure will be implemented and the software for this will be acquired from ISRO, he said.
The High-Security Registered Plates System will also be implemented as per the central government guidelines. Road safety is being enhanced by the implementation of the Speed Governor plan, Savadi said.
