Kundapur man hacked to death in Belagavi

In a heinous murder, a Kundapur based man was hacked to death by an alleged rowdy-sheeter in Belagavi on Tuesday, September 14.
Balakrishna Shetty, a resident of Hiliyana near Goliyangadi was running a pan beeda stall in Belagavi for over 35 eyars. Police officials have arrested the accused identified as Dattatreya Alias Datta Shivananda Jantikatte.
It is said that the accused Datta had come to his stall and purchased ‘Gutka’ from him. Shetty then asked him to pay for the same, but the latter refused amd threatened Shetty with a knife.
Fearing attack, Balakrishna Shetty closed his shop and hid in his friend’s house. After he returned to his house at night, Datta barged into his house and killed him.
Shetty’s wife and children had returned to Kundapur on Tuesday morning.
