‎Kundapura: Students bid tearful adieu to school teacher killed in road accident

Kundapura:‎‎ A teacher who had been seriously injured in a bike accident died without responding to treatment. The schoolchildren bid a tearful adieu to Ambika (32), the teacher at the Hemmadi Government Higher Primary School on Friday, August 12.

Ambika was on her way to school with her husband Srikanth on a motorbike when the mishap took place. The bike overturned near Vandse, and both of them were thrown onto the road. While Srikanth escaped with minor injuries, Ambika, who was riding pillion sustained head injuries.

Although Ambika was rushed to hospital in Udupi, she could not be saved and passed away on Thursday evening. Kollur police have registered a case in this regard.

‎Students pay final respects to their favorite teacher

‎Ambika joined Hemmadi School in 2018 after getting a transfer from Kamalashila High School where she worked as a guest teacher. In the four years at Hemmadi, the school had scored 100 percent results. For this reason, she was felicitated with the best teacher award by the school committee.‎

Students of the school grieved the untimely passing of the teacher, who was loved by all. The students and fellow teachers paid their final respects to the departed soul. The school remained closed on Friday in honour of the deceased.

Ambika is survived by her husband Srikanth, who is also a teacher by profession, and a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter.‎
