Kundapura: On Thursday, a huge crowd was seen outside the taluk office here by people who have organised weddings this weekend.

The rush was to get the guest list of 50 people registered and receive passes for them from the authorities.

According to the new guidelines, wedding organisers can invite only 50 guests to the wedding who must be registered with the local authorities who will issue passes for them. Only those whose names are registered in the list will be allowed to enter the wedding venue with the passes.

The passes issued are non-transferable.

As there were reportedly no marriages or other such events held in the past 45 days many had organised them on Sunday, April 25.

The wedding organisers stated that they had to collect the Aadhar card numbers from the guests to whom they had given the invitations.

Contradicting this Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha said, “A list of 50 people who will attend the wedding should be given to the concerned officer for permission. Passes will be given by them for those fifty names. Aadhaar card number of the guests is not mandatory. Only names can be given to the officer.”
