Last rites of slain BSF soldier Santosh Gurav held at his home town

Belagavi: Thousands gathered to pay their last respect to the martyred BSF soldier Santosh Gurav at his home town in Halaga town of Khanapur in Belagavi on Wednesday, July 11. Three rounds were fired in the air as a guard of honor to the martyred soldier by the Karnataka Police and soldiers of the Border Security Force (BSF).
The soldier was killed in a blast when he and his battalion were coming back from a anti-Naxal patrol in the jungles of Chattisgarh on Monday, July 9. Gurav and his fellow soldier Vijayanand Nayak (29) died on spot before they could be taken to the camp for medical treatment.
Deputy Commissioner S Ziaullah and ZP CEO R Ramachandran paid homage to the soldier. Superintendent of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy, AC Kavita Yogappanavar and Tahsildar Shivanand Ullagaddi were also present.
