Literary, folk expert Erya Lakshminarayana Alva no more

Bantwal: Renowned litterateur Erya Lakshminarayana Alva (94) passed away on Saturday, July 27. He is survived by wife and daughter.

The deceased was suffering from age related illness since several days and suffered a mild heart attack at 8 pm on Saturday evening. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital where he breathed his last at 8:30 pm.

Mr Alva had won many awards for his literary contributions including the ‘honoris clausa’ at the 30th convocation of Mangalore University in 2016.

He had penned many books on varied subjects. His book ‘Ramashwamedha Tarangagalu’ published in 1959 was a textbook for Madras and Mysore Universities. Being a critic and a researcher, Mr Alva had published many books on the cultures and traditions of undivided Dakshina Kannada district.
