People have their own unique ways of expressing love and a few go to large extents to prove their affection to each other. However, in this case, a 15-year-old girl from Assam’s Sualkuchi district injected herself with the HIV-infected blood of her lover using a syringe.

The girl reportedly had met the boy in question over Facebook and developed a relationship. She had even attempted eloping with him several times in the past but was always brought back home by her parents.

However this time round, the girl did the unexpected by injecting herself with blood taken from her lover, who had HIV, using a syringe.

An IndiaTimes report mentions that the teenager’s family has initiated legal proceedings against her lover. Meanwhile, the police detained the youth while the girl is under medical observation.

The incident has evoked several reactions from netizens. While a few of the comments are hilarious, a WHO report states that the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) targets the immune system and weakens people’s defense against many infections and some types of cancer that people with healthy immune systems can more easily fight off.
