Maharashtra Releases 2.65 TMC Water to Karnataka for Second Time in a Month

Belagavi: Maharashtra state government has released 2.65 TMC water from its Koyna water reservoir to Karnataka state for the second time in a month, said Karnataka state Minister for Water Resources MB Patil on Thursday. The decision was taken by the Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Gangadhar Fadnavis following a request by Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar.
Earlier, Karnataka state received 2.65 TMC water from Koyna water reservoir on April 13 following a request made by Karnataka chief minister to Maharashtra government. Water was released in the wake of prevailing severe drought conditions in Karnataka.
