Mangalore University Prof who was caught red-handed by Lokayukta while accepting bribe sentenced to 5 years imprisonment

Mangaluru: Dr Anita Ravishankar, associate professor in sociology at Mangalore University who was caught red-handed by Lokayukta police while accepting a bribe has been sentenced to five years imprisonment.

She was arrested for accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 from a research student on December 4, 2012.

It is said that Dr Anita Ravishankar had demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 while assigning the research project to her student Prema.

The girl alerted the Lokayukta and they asked Prema to use the recorder through which the professor was caught. Anita was then produced in the sessions court.

Dakshina Kannada Lokayukta SP Mohandas Pai, DYSP Vittaldas Pai, inspector Umesh Shet and others were part of the operation.
