Mangaluru: Police have registered a case against 16 auto-rickshaw drivers for overcharging passengers. The move comes after several complaints from the public about drivers charging more than the fares fixed for journeys.
In response to these complaints, police launched an operation on Saturday night. Officers in plain clothes posed as passengers and found that several auto-rickshaws were overcharging customers.
Following the operation, cases have been registered against the erring drivers. The Mangaluru Police Commissioner has stated that this crackdown against overcharging will continue.
