Mangaluru: BMW car accident; Accused driver tests negative for drug, alcohol

Mangaluru: The BMW driver who was accused of drunk driving and killing a scooterist in Mangaluru has tested negative for drugs and alcohol.

The accused identified as Shravan Kumar was involved in the horrific accident at Ballalbagh on April 9.

It is said that his car lost control, hit the median, went over to the other side of the road, and collided with an oncoming scooter and two cars.

A woman who was critically injured after being hit died in the hospital on April 23. The accident had drawn public outrage after the CCTV video grab of the incident had gone viral on social media.

It was suspected that Shravan was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. However, Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar on Tuesday said that his reports were negative.
