Mangaluru: Customs officials confiscate smuggled gold worth Rs 39.35 lakhs

Mangaluru: Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport seized gold worth Rs 39.35 lakh from a passenger on May 18.
The Kasargod-based passenger, who arrived from Dubai on an Air India flight, carried 24-carat gold weighing about 756 grams. The market value of the same is estimated to be about Rs 39.35 lakhs.
The gold was concealed in 4 oval-shaped packets in paste form concealed within the body, a press release said.
