Mangaluru: All the passengers who came back to Mangaluru from Dubai are under quarantine and the general public or the family members of the passengers were not allowed to visit them, thus the district administration has succeeded in blocking the spread of the disease through secondary infection.
In some of the airports of the country, the family members of the returnees were allowed to meet them on arrival, however in Mangaluru the family members were denied admission both at the airport and the quarantine facility.
The media was kept at bay, and a photographer of information department recorded proceedings on video from a distance duly wearing PPE kit. The district administration and health officials were also present in minimum strength to avoid s secondary infection from spreading.
“The officials of the district administration and health department had maintained social distance at the airport and had taken care to protect themselves,” said Dakshina Kannada district health officer Dr Ramachandra Bairy.
