Mangaluru: Lawyers in the city held a protest under the leadership of the Mangaluru Lawyers’ Association on Monday in the precincts of the Mangalore court to condemn the alleged police brutality against a lawyer Pritam in Chikmagaluru.
Former president of the association Shambhu Sharma called for action against the police who ‘committed atrocities’. He demanded the enactment of the Advocates’ Protection Act for lawyers’ protection.
Association’s President Prithviraj Rai said that this was a primary stage struggle. Protests will be held all across the state if strong action is not initiated against the erring policemen, he added.
General Secretary Shridhar Yenmakaje and others were present.
