Mangaluru: A leopard was allegedly found prowling in Maroli in the city on Sunday evening. Locals alerted the forest department officials about it.

Children playing in Maroli in the evening noticed an animal resembling a leopard walking in the distance. As it was dark, they could only see a vague silhouette of a large animal. They reportedly clicked its photos, however, they came out blurred.

The forest officials have visited the site and inspected for clues of the animal during the night. The officials went back to the spot again and are conducting further inquiries. Mangalore range forest officer Prashant Pai has opined that it might be a leopard.

The suspected movements of the wild animal so close to the city have created a buzz of insecurity in the area.
