Mangaluru: Police have arrested a 31-year-old for allegedly killing an elderly man at Haripadavu here.
The accused has been identified as Rajesh Poojary (31) resident of Devinagar, Kunjathbail.
According to Kavoor Police, on October 7, the accused picked up the victim, identified as Jayananda Acharya (65) of Mandarabailu, from the Lalbagh area for sexual favours for Rs 300 and took him to an empty plot at Haripadavu.
A dispute broke out between them over payment, during which the accused killed Jayananda by strangulation, police added.
A case has been registered under IPC sections 302, 377 and other relevant sections of the law, they said.
Meanwhile, the accused was produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
