Mangaluru: New DC chalks out plan to contain spread of COVID-19

Mangaluru: Speaking at a news conference here on July 31, the new Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district Dr K V Rajendra charted out the plan to restrict COVID-19 from further spreading.
The main focus will be to intensify surveillance and contact tracing. Task forces have been set up at ward and panchayat level, he said.
With the help of teachers a health survey will be conducted of every house recording details of all occupants to effectively check for vulnerable people and prioritize accordingly, he added.
Reacting on the question of private hospitals charging exorbitantly and denying admission with the reason of non-availability of beds, the DC stated that an online grievance redressal mechanism will be initiated for it and severe actions will be taken on hospitals charging more than the government ordered price slabs.
He added that he will be conducting a meeting with private hospitals to look into such issues.
