Mangaluru: Security tightened in DK district following serial blasts in Kerala

Mangaluru: In response to Sunday’s serial bomb blasts in Kerala, authorities in the bordering Dakshina Kannada (DK) district have tightened security measures. Police officials have intensified checks at key entry points, with a particular focus on the border between Karnataka and Kerala.
Senior officials conducted on-site visits to various checkpoints and closely monitored security protocols. Notably, increased vigilance has been established in strategic locations within the jurisdiction of the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate, including Mangalore city. Security has been bolstered at critical points such as airports, ports, religious sites, coastal areas, and railway stations.
Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal said that comprehensive security arrangements have been made, especially at the entry points from the Kerala border into Mangalore.
Ullal: Vehicle Inspections
In the Ullal region, security has been significantly heightened following the incidents in Kerala. Police are now conducting thorough vehicle checks at checkpoints regulating entry into both Karnataka and Kerala.
Checkpoints have been established at Talapadi, Tacchani, Devipur border (under Ullal Police Station), and Mudungarukatte, Narya, Nandarapadpu, Taudugoli Cross, Nettilapadav (under Konaje Police Station) to monitor vehicles moving between the two states.
Security Measures for Religious Centers
Security arrangements have been put in place for various religious centers, including churches in the Ullal and Konaje Police Station areas.
Additionally, police patrols are actively monitoring crowded areas, including Ullala, Someshwara Beach, as well as the vicinity of mosques and temples.
Extensive searches at Kasaragod Railway Station
In Kasaragod, authorities conducted an extensive search operation at the railway station in response to the blast in Kalamassery. The inspection, led by the Bomb Squad, involved the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and local police.
Furthermore, security has been reinforced in crowded areas, including the bus stand, with ongoing vehicle inspections. Special precautions have been implemented in tourism centers, and hotels and lodging houses are subject to regular inspections.
