Mangaluru: In response to the tragic death of an autorickshaw driver during heavy rainfall on Friday night, temporary precautionary measures have been swiftly put in place at Kottara Chowki.
The autorickshaw fell into an overflowing stormwater drain, leading to the unfortunate demise of the driver, Deepak Acharya.
To prevent further incidents, sand-filled bags, barricades, and reflector tape have been installed at the accident site. Senior officials, including the Tahsildar and the Commissioner, visited the location to conduct a thorough inspection.
The incident has intensified demands for enhanced safety measures on roads adjacent to all stormwater drains in the city.
Inspection and Relief Measures
As of now, the family of the deceased driver has not received immediate relief. While relief funds are typically disbursed within 24 hours in some cases, there are instances where immediate relief is not provided.
Officials have indicated that a review of the FIR, insurance, and other related matters will be conducted before finalizing the relief measures for this incident.
