Manipal: New Year revelers booked, vehicles seized for creating public nuisance

Manipal: Police have booked several persons for creating public nuisance and reckless driving on the pretext of celebrations on New Year’s Eve.

The incident occurred at 12.30 AM on January 1, when Manipal police team was on special rounds. They noticed 7 to 10 persons riding cars and two-wheelers on the road between Syndicate Circle and Coin Circle in Manipal creating a public nuisance. They blocked the road and performed stunts, disrupting traffic flow and public peace, police said.

A police team was later formed to trace and nab the culprits. Based on video footage shared on social media, a car and 8 motorcycles involved in the incident were identified and confiscated, police said.

As many as 14 persons were detained for questioning, police said and added that a case has been registered at Manipla police station.
