Manipal: Pack of stray dogs attacks, injures school girl

Udupi:‎‎ In a shocking incident, a pack of street dogs mauled and injured a Class 1 student within the school compound at Manipal on Wednesday.‎

‎The girl sustained serious head injuries and has been admitted to Ajjarkadu district hospital and is responding well to treatment.‎

According to sources, the girl was attacked by five to six dogs when she was at the school premises in Manipal.

The vicious attack by street dogs has invited the ire of the locals. Nithyananda Olakadu and Tharanath Mestha Shirooru of Nagarika Samithi urged the City Municipal Council to take steps to control the street dog population. They also demanded that stray dogs be sent to canine rehabilitation centers.

Meanwhile, ‎Sharmila S, member secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, visited the victim at the hospital and inquired about her health.
