Mangaluru: A man from Bihar has attracted attention nationally with his initiative of a cyle ride across the country to spread the message against female foeticide and to stress on the need for reforms in the society. The man has reached Puttur from Kerala after travelling eight states.

Mohammed Javed (45) from Patna is a carpenter by profession. He has been creating awareness on social evils and is also collects public opinion on the issue by collecting signatures from the people wherever he goes.

He has a board in front of his cycle which says he is campaigning against female foeticide and also against 12.5% GST on sanitary napkins.

On January 26th, Javed started his journey from Patna and in the last four months, he has travelled Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala and is now in Karnataka. He travels in day time and takes rest in bus shelters at night.

Javed said,”I am not travelling for fun. I neither want fame nor I wish to enter any record book. I just want to create awareness against female foeticide. I want to travel all the 29 states in the country.”

“My family is into carpentry. I have been fighting against social evil since my younger days and have been getting good response from the public. People extend their support in the form of food and financial assistance,” he said.

“People don’t need female foeticide and GST. But they don’t understand why they have failed to raise their voice,”he added.

“I have not faced any problem in the last four months. Many have spoken to me and have extended their support to my mission. People have been extending their financial assistance as well, which help me to carry out the mission,” he observes.

“I have kept National Flag in my cycle. I am fighting against social evils as an Indian and not as a follower of a particular religion or party,” he said, stating that he is only fighting against the system and not against any particular individual.
