Mixed response for two-day bandh in DK, Udupi dist

Mangaluru:  two-day nationwide bandh, to protest against “anti-labour, anti-people and anti-national policies” of the Modi government began on Tuesday.

Responding to the two-day nationwide bandh call, several shops and establishments in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have remain shut on Tuesday, January 8.

The bandh has been called for by various labour organisations to protest against “anti-labour, anti-people and anti-national policies” of the Modi government

Deputy Commissioners of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district on Monday announced a holiday for schools and colleges in the districts on January 8 in view of the bandh.

Meanwhile private bus operators had not extended their support to the bandh and are running few buses.

Tight police security has been maintained to avoid unwanted situation.
