Belagavi: Muslim community members led by former MLA Feroz Sait staged a massive protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Tuesday.

Terming the Citizenship (Amendment) Act as discriminatory, the protesters demanded revocation of the act. They also condemned the police assault on college students protesting against the CAA.

Addressing the protestors here, Sait accused PM Modi and Amit Shah of following a dictatorial administration like Hitler and said one day they too will shoot themselves dead like the Nazi leader.

“Those claiming that we are not Indian citizens will be thrown out of this country. The fight has just begun,” added Sait.

Meanwhile, incidents of stone-pelting were reported from Shivaji Nagar and surrounding areas following the protests. Tight police security has been deployed to maintain law and order situation.
