MUP releases Book on Drug Delivery

Manipal: The 144th publication of Manipal Universal Press, ‘Affordable and Effective Drug Delivery’, edited by Dr N Udupa, Research Director – Health Sciences, MAHE, Manipal was released at Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences here on Friday. 

The book is a compilation of the research works guided by Dr N Udupa in the area of drug delivery. Over four decades Dr Udupa has shared his proficiency and expertise to build, strengthen and widen the knowledge and information about the development and delivery of various therapeutic dosage forms. More than 500 publications, with over 5000 citations, about 8 patents, half a dozen books and research guidance of over 100 research scholars is a definitive testimony of his outstanding contribution to pharma education and research. 

Dr Manthan Janodia, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacy Management, MCOPS, MAHE, welcomed the gathering and gave an overview of Dr Udupa’s research work over the years. The Vice-Chancellor MAHE, Manipal, Dr H. Vinod Bhat while releasing the book described Dr Udupa as an excellent researcher, and lauded the teamsmanship and leadership qualities in him, which was evident in every project he is involved in. 

He added; “The “tenacity” with which Dr N Udupa works towards attaining the goals of any project he leads, is praiseworthy and exemplary. Emphasizing that the book will not only inspire young researchers but will also be a guiding force in the academia and industry”.

Dr Bhat said that every library should have this book and every researcher in the field of pharmacy across the nation too should have this book in their possession. He also spoke on the positive growth of MUP in terms of acquisition, editing and publishing.

Dr Udupa narrated his journey as a researcher from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) to Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and expressed his unrelenting dedication to research as a fulfilling experience. He along with his wife, Mrs Vijayalakshmi Udupa, were felicitated at the function today. Dr Neeta Inamdar, the Chief Editor of MUP, thanked all present at the function to release the 144th book.
