Udupi: The ongoing investigation related to the tragic murder of four of a family in Nejar against accused Praveen Chowgale has mostly been completed. He remains in police custody, with remand granted until November 28, pending further investigations.

Physical evidence uncovered:

Extensive police efforts have led to significant recoveries of crucial evidence of the crime, including a knife, mask, bag, and more, which were discovered at Chowgale’s residence in Bejai. Moreover, a scooter registered under his name was found near the rented room of one of the deceased, Aynaz.

The investigation is probing Chowgale’s past actions, particularly his provision of the scooter to his colleague Aynaz. Authorities aim to determine whether the scooter was sold to her or merely lent to her.

Following the murder in Nejar, Chowgale allegedly travelled on another person’s bike to the Hejamadi tollgate via the Santhekatte-Karavali Bypass route. Subsequently, he purportedly used an MG Hector car, which he had parked there, to reach a desolate building near Bappanadu. Here, he reportedly set the blood-stained clothing on fire.

Police sources indicate the presence of traces that corroborate this account. Chowgale claimed to have then proceeded directly to Mangalore after the incident.

Extensive Investigation and Legal Procedure:

The police have meticulously combed through various locations pertinent to the case, spanning from Nejar to Mangaluru and the accused’s residence in Suratkal. Considering his prolonged stay in Mangaluru, taking him to Sangli in Maharashtra isn’t under consideration, police sources said.

Preparations for Chowgale’s court appearance are underway, with a likely presentation in the upcoming days. Authorities are yet to confirm the specific arraignment date and are considering alternate measures, potentially even presenting him at the judge’s residence to minimize public gatherings.

Previous court appearances have warranted substantial police presence, and security measures are expected to intensify further.

Skilled wrestler:

Chowgale’s background as a skilled wrestler has raised insights into the efficiency with which he purportedly executed the tragic event. His physical prowess and purported expertise in combat are under scrutiny. Forensic assessments are ongoing to ascertain any potential influence of substances on the day of the crime.
