Udupi: “The government offices in Udupi will function with their ACs off on all Mondays for protection of environment and to reduce global warming,” said Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati speaking to reporters on Thursday, June 6.

“The slogan as part of world environment day this year is control of air pollution. Officials in the district administration have unanimously agreed to implement it on every Monday by putting off the ACs in their offices. The district administration will thereby try to reduce global temperatures besides saving electricity. There is already a contribution towards it by officials who arrive to their offices by public transport on every Thursday. Private organizations, banks and corporate organizations can ask their staff to travel by public transport one day in a week and provide their own contribution for environmental protection,” said the DC.

“Various measures taken up by the district administration are being implemented without hindering the duties,” said the DC.
