In the rural backdrop of Dotihal Taluk, Killarahatti village, a concerning issue has come to light regarding the absence of an Anganwadi center in Ramji Naik Taanda, leaving children between the ages of 3 to 6 devoid of educational opportunities.

The district CEO visited the area after the matter was highlighted in the Udayavani newspaper. The article published in both the Udayavani Digital platform and newspaper, underscores the violation of Article 51-A, the fundamental right to education for children.

Udayavani had reported on the plight of Tanda children, emphasizing their dire need for education. Despite visits by Member of the State Child Rights Protection Commission Shekar Gowda J. Ramathna, District Child Protection Officers, and various departmental authorities, no concrete steps have been taken to address the educational vacuum in the Tanda.

Meanwhile, a compassionate gesture emerged from Shilpa Chavan, a woman from the community, who volunteered to educate the children and provide them with food. This act of altruism came after the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights visited the area and found no arrangements in place for temporary education for the children.

Upon inquiry by the CEO during a visit to the area, it was revealed that despite instructions from the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights to provide temporary education until the establishment of an Anganwadi center, no tangible efforts were made by the taluk officials. Consequently, Shilpa Chavan took it upon herself to educate the children until a permanent solution was implemented.

The CEO has instructed the team to continue educating the children until the new Anganwadi center is operational and has assured an honorarium from the Gram Panchayat for the initiative. Furthermore, the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) has pledged to necessary arrangements for the children
