Hanur: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the state government would challenge the latest order of the Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee (CWRC) order in the Supreme Court.

“There is no compromise on the Cauvery water issue. I have already discussed the matter with legal experts. We will challenge CWRC order in the Supreme Court,” he told media persons after paying a visit to the pilgrimage site on the Madhwara Hills here.

CWRC, in its 87th meeting, had asked Karnataka to let 3,000 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu for 18 days starting till October 15.

CM Siddaramiah also accused the BJP and JDS of playing politics on the Cauvery issue.

Meanwhile, BJP leader and former Chief Minister Yediyurappa termed the CWRC’s order as a “death sentence” for Karnataka. He blamed the state government’s negligence for the present situation and added that releasing any more water to Tamil Nadu would be akin to Karnataka losing its self-respect.
