Although there is land available for the building, no funds

Kaikamba: The revenue department, provides land for various other departments, change of accounts, maintains records and maps however, does not have its own building for the department officials to work from!

Close to 90% of the village accountant offices are located within the GP building in Mangaluru taluk and in connection to the taluk, already additional space has been reserved for the VA office. But due to the lack of funds, the building has not yet been constructed. The officials have informed that this issue will be brought to the notice of the MP and MLAs.

Additional responsibilities

Gurpur Hobli has 26 villages within its limits and yet, there is not a single VA office functioning on its own land. Besides, 11 VAs are providing their service by taking over additional responsibility through managing 2 villages, sometimes 3 villages. It can be noticed that there is no proper place in the VA office to store the documents correctly.

Letter to remove ‘Nadakacheri’

A letter has been written to the revenue department in the GP to remove the ’Nadakacheri’ functioning at Kandavara GP building. Since there is a paucity of space at the GP to store documents, it was decided that the ‘Nadakacheri’ should be removed during the general meeting held on Sep 26th.

Unorganized Nadakacheri

The Nadakacheri located in the Kandavara GP building is presently facing the problem of lack of properly functioning basic facilities. The computers in the office have broken down and there is no proper electricity wiring. The daily issue of network problem is causing much trouble to the people and an appeal was made with the MLA Bharat Shetty in this concern. In response a few works have begun ay the Nadakacheri. During this time, the revenue department has sent the letter to the GP asking the removal of the office.

VA submerged under work pressure

On one hand, there is crop survey, revision of voters list, Aadhar card linking by visiting door-to-door with BLO, sand raid, checkpost duty, natural calamity, and on the other, the people are waiting for caste and income certificates, 11E and other services at the office. The VAs must supervise the 105 BLOs working on the voters list revision within Gurpur hobli. Although crop survey has been outsourced to a private institution, the VA still has to give guidance. The mines department is responsible for checkpost duty, sand storing and raid on quarries, while the agriculture department is responsible for the submission of crop summon application, crop survey and other works, the VAs have been tasked to do these works and hence are facing much work pressure.

Lack of grant

Land has been identified for the construction of VA and Nadakacheri buildings. There is no lack of land in this concern. But there is a lack of grant. The revenue minister has aimed to have Nadakacheri in all the districts and the grant in this concern will be released under the normal plan – Guruprasad, Tahsildar

The panchayat’s letter has come to my notice

The panchayat’s letter has come to the notice of the tahsildar. There is 18 cents of land available for Nadakacheri near the Farmer’s Contact Centre in Kandavara panchayat – Shivaprasad, Deputy Tahsildar, Gurpur Hobli
