Bengaluru: Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Chauhan on January 9 said that there is no restriction on the sale of chicken meat and eggs in the State.
Chauhan was speaking after a meeting with all the State’s Deputy Commissioners regarding the spread of bird flu in neighbouring Kerala.
He said though there have been no cases of bird flu reported in the State so far officials have been instructed to be alert and advised that the general public can consume chicken meat and eggs without worry.
“There is also no restriction on the sale and transport of poultry and poultry products other than to Kerala so the public need not be worried,” he added.
“All districts in the State especially bordering districts have been instructed to take preventive measures by holding district-level disease control committee meetings. The Department of Forestry, Urban Development, Rural Development and the Police Department have been asked to work in coordination for this purpose,” Chauhan said.
