Over 900 sheep, 2 buffaloes sacrificed in a fair

Koppal: On occasion of Goddess Dyamavva’s fair more than 900 sheeps and two buffaloes were sacrificed in Gangavathi on Tuesday. The fair is held once in five years Malakanamaradi village in the taluk.
Two to five sheeps from each house in the village and two buffaloes were sacrificed and offered to the goddess.
Though some youths from the village had informed the police department in advance, the huge animal sacrifice could not be stopped.
MN Sharanesh Patil alleged that the massive animal sacrifice took place in the presence of the police but they did not make any efforts to prevent the sacrifice.
