P T Usha to participate in marathon

March 23rd: World Tuberculosis Control Day
Kasaragod: As part of the World Tuberculosis Control Day, India’s golden girl P T Usha will be conducting a marathon. The race will be held on morning of March 23rd which will commence from the general hospital in Kasaragod and conclude at the new bus stand. The event will be participated by various organizations including NSS volunteers, college students, workers of Nehru Yuva Kendra Club, Kutumbashri, workers of Saksharata Mission and many others.
The race will be flagged off by the Superintendent of the district police. After the race a programme will be conducted near the bus stand which will be inaugurated by the District Commissioner Dr. D Sajith Babu. P T Usha will be the chief guest. The programme will be presided by the District Medical Officer Dr A P Dinesh Kumar. Senior Physician and former District Tuberculosis Control Authority Dr B S Rao will be felicitated. The first person from the district who was cured from Multi-Drug Resistant TB will also be felicitated on the occasion. TB which spread from the mouth will be healed through proper treatment. In the backdrop of the proper actions taken in the district, the threat of Tuberculosis has reduced, said the present District Tuberculosis Control Authority Dr T P Amin.
A preparatory meeting in connection to the celebration of the World Tuberculosis Control Day in the district was held at the D’s office under the leadership of the District Commissioner Dr. D Sajith Babu. Assistant District Health Officers Dr A T Manoj, Dr K K Shanti, District Social Justice Officer B Bhaskaran and others were present.
