Bengaluru: A BBMP official informed that Padarayanapura ward corporator Imran Pasha tested positive for coronavirus on Friday. This happens to be first case in Karnataka where an elected representative has been infected by the virus.
As many as 15 persons, primary contacts of Pasha have been placed under quarantine.
Of the 303 confirmed cases in Bengaluru, Padarayanapura accounted for 64 cases.
BBMP officials had sealed down the ward completely, despite this Pasha had been moving around in the area.
Meanwhile it is also gathered that Pasha had visited the BBMP headquarters three times in the last week and had also participated in a meeting there. This has led to panic among the officials.
It may be recalled that Padarayanapura was in the news recently for assault on frontline Covid 19 workers. Around 120 persons were arrested in connection to that incident.
