Palimaru seer names his successor

Udupi: Paryaya Palimaru Mutt pontiff Sri Vidyadheesha Teertha Sripada has selected Shailesh Upadhyaya, a student of Sriyogadeepika Vidya Mutt as his successor.

The initiation rituals of Shailesh Upadhyaya, including ‘Sanyasa Deekshe’, ‘Uttaradhikara Sweekara’, ‘Namakarana’ and ‘Peetarohana’ will be held from May 9 to 12 at Krishna Mutt.

Shailesh, 20, belongs to Kodavur and is the eldest son of Vedamurthy Surendra Upadhyaya and Lakshmi. His brother Vishwesha is pursuing medicine at Muniyal Ayurveda College in Manipal.

Shailesh who had an inclination towards spirituality approached the Palimaru seer, after completing his SSLC, and expressed his desire to become his disciple and dedicate his life worshipping Lord Rama and Krishna. “I was elated when the seer agreed, and checked the horoscope and it matched. There was no objection from my home too as they know my determination,” he said.
