People thrash a priest for misbehaving with lady in bus

Udupi: A priest was beaten up by a woman and the general public for allegedly misbehaving with the woman while travelling in a bus at Kota on Friday, December 21. The women travelling in the private bus has accused the priest of behaving indecently with her.

The woman was travelling back to Kota from the city by a private bus after her working hours. Mohammed Sameed (29), who is said to be a priest of a mosque and resident of Thokkotu was also travelling in the same bus. It is said that the priest allegedly misbehaved with the women travelling in the bus.

The women warned the priest to desist from his indecent behavior, yet the priest continued to misbehave with the woman. The woman unable to bare his lewd behavior anymore took matters into her own hands and sought the support of the surrounding people. By then the bus reached Moorukai in Kota.

The priest, felt the tide turn against him and hurriedly got down from the bus and began to walk, trying to escape from his impending doom but by this time, the woman was in no state to forgive him and followed him out of the bus and started striking at him. The spark led to the fire and the public came in support of her and thrashed the priest.

Kota station house officer Narasimha Shetty, was on patrol duty nearby and immediately took the accused priest into the custody. A case was registered against the priest in Kota Police Station.
